Volunteer Production Assistant

The Volunteer Production Assistant's primary responsibility is to assist in the filming and editing of narrative, documentary, and event video productions. The content may be posted to social media, digital signage, marketing materials, and/or other promotional and educational initiatives. The Volunteer Production Assistant works closely with the Creative Director to bring to life the vision and mission of The Pōpolo Project through artistic and cultural expression.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Video/Audio Production Support

  • Prepare equipment and supplies for all shoots
  • Set-up/Break down audio and video equipment
  • Work with the Creative Director on all shoots to film and capture necessary audio/visual content
  • Coordinate with internal and external contributors to adhere to production schedule, communicate project goals, and ensure understanding of roles and responsibilities during shoot

Video/Audio Editing

  • Store, organize, and prepare footage to be used in the video editing process
  • Provide initial footage log -- file import, selection of usable footage, audio syncing, etc.
  • Edit content as needed to ensure timeliness of production

Hours will vary with an estimated 10-15 hours needed per month. Students welcome!


Volunteer Graphic Designer

The Volunteer Graphic Designer's primary responsibility is to assist in the graphic communication of the Pōpolo Project’s mission, branding, and culture to be utilized in both print and digital media. The Volunteer Graphic Designer will work closely with the Creative Team to develop campaign collateral, social media posts, merchandise designs, and other promotional materials. All designs and collateral will be used to support the Pōpolo Project’s work to increase the visibility and deepen the interconnectedness of blackness in Hawaiʻi and the larger Pacific.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Graphic Production

  • Communicate mission and branding of the organization through digital and print media
  • Utilize color, typography, form and space to make visually engaging content
  • Work with Creative Team to develop visual campaign schedules and content mapping

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite of programs
  • Excellent communication skills

Volunteer Event Photographer

The Volunteer Event Photographer's primary responsibility is to capture still photography at The Pōpolo Project’s community events, video shoots, and other special events. The content may be used for social media, digital signed, marketing materials, and/or other promotional and educational initiatives. The Volunteer Event Photographer works closely with the Creative Director to bring to life the vision and mission of The Pōpolo Project through still photography.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Event Photography

  • Prepare equipment and supplies for all shoots
  • Work with the Creative Director on all events to capture images
  • Work with event staff and participants to ensure each event is documented and quality high definition photos are produced

Photo Editing

  • Store, organize, and prepare photos to be used in the editing process
  • Provide initial review -- selection of usable photos
  • Edit content as needed to ensure timeliness of final product

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Intermediate to advanced photography knowledge
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite of programs
  • Excellent communication skills


Hours will vary with an estimated 10-15 hours needed per month. Must currently provide your own equipment with the potential to utilize organization equipment in the future. Students welcome!
