Black Ink, Red Blood: Social Justice & Art Action in Melanesia

  • Ka Waiwai 110 University Avenue Honolulu, HI United States (map)

Artist and activist Joy Enomoto of the Pōpolo Project shares a very special report back from community efforts in Fiji and the Solomon Islands to organize against militarism, sea bed mining, and environmental degradation through art.

Highlighting the Youngsolwara Pacific Art Camp in Suva, Fiji and the Melanesian Arts & Cultural Festival in Honiara, Solomon Islands, this event will share the art, politics, and organizing efforts for self-determination young Melanesian activists engage to fight colonialism, anti-Blackness, and to reclaim control over their cultures and resources.

Stay after the event to enjoy ‘awa and ʻai at Ka Waiwai.
